Buyer - Airbus, Filton
Location: Filton (60% onsite)
Hours: 35 per week (4.5 days, flexible between 7am-7pm)
Pay: £26.16/hr PAYE | £35.00/hr Umbrella
Security Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)
About the Opportunity
Join Airbus's Detailed Parts Commodity team in Filton and play a key role in supplying machined parts to Airbus's global plants and final assembly lines. You'll be part of a friendly, experienced, and supportive team, working on projects that range from components just a few centimetres long to those over 20 metres. This is a fantastic chance to develop your procurement expertise, build supplier relationships, and contribute to innovative supply chain strategies at a time of exciting change for Airbus.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and Manage Contracts: Act as the main point of contact for your contracts, covering various Airbus commercial programmes. Lead projects, manage supplier relationships, and optimise customer value.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with multi-functional teams (Design Office, Programmes, Plants, Quality, Supply Chain) to coordinate all activities related to your parts and contracts.
- Ensure Contract Excellence: Monitor and apply contract terms throughout innovation, development, serial, and support phases. Drive quality, support, logistics, and delivery performance, and contribute to improvement plans when needed.
- Drive Cost Efficiency: Negotiate contract pricing, support cost reduction initiatives, and update pricing information in SAP. Ensure timely release of purchase orders.
- Run Tender Processes: Manage the Call For Tender (CFT) process, gather inputs, and present recommendations to stakeholders.
- Shape Procurement Strategy: Help develop procurement and supply chain strategies, bringing innovation to the product portfolio.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in procurement is desirable, but we welcome candidates with strong business experience and knowledge of procurement processes.
- Commercial, contract, or finance knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong stakeholder management and internal customer focus.
- Basic SAP skills are useful.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, as part of a team, and to lead projects.
- Adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to acting with integrity.
- Negotiation-level English required.
