Buyer - Aluminium and Tubes

Location: Filton (60% onsite after initial onboarding)

Hours: 35 per week, flexible working (4.5 days, between 7am-7pm)

Pay: £28.95/hr (PAYE) or £38.74/hr (Umbrella)

Security Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)

IR35: Inside

You'll play a key role in managing strategic suppliers, driving cost improvements, and ensuring the seamless supply of critical materials.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key aluminium suppliers worldwide, ensuring the highest standards of quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Project Leadership: Lead and deliver projects within a Multi-Functional Team (MFT) environment, managing timelines, budgets, and reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Contract Negotiation: Oversee the full contract lifecycle, from tendering and selection to negotiation, validation, and ongoing review.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Support the deployment of commodity strategies, leveraging market intelligence and contributing to company-wide cost improvement initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supplier risks, ensuring business continuity and compliance with Airbus policies.
  • Process Optimisation: Manage the end-to-end Aluminium ConBid process, continuously monitoring demand, optimising allocation, and driving savings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in regular supplier reviews and support development initiatives to enhance performance and achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in buying, supply chain, or contract management within large-scale manufacturing (ideally metals, aviation, or automation).
  • Technical understanding of materials, especially aluminium and metal parts.
  • Proven ability to interpret specifications and work with international suppliers.
  • Comfortable navigating complex stakeholder environments.
  • SAP experience is highly desirable.
  • A collaborative mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.
