The role

Action for Children does what's right, does what's needed and does what works for children in the UK. Every year, our team changes the lives of over 300,000 children, young people and families.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a pro-active and confident individual to join us in commercial procurement. The postholder will be buying goods and services on a wide range of large scale spend categories across the organisation. You will ensure we can maximise efficiencies and support with changing the approach to procurement at all levels of the organisation to the benefit of the children, young people and families we support.

You will make a difference by:

- Managing and maintaining responsibility for your category portfolio, including prioritising spend activity, identifying cost saving.
- Producing sourcing strategies, requesting information, sending invitations to tender and drafting robust contract agreements to influence the decision-making process.
- Providing provision of procurement advice and guidance on all contracts within the portfolio and to research, plan and conceptualise procurement options that encourage continuous improvement and deliver value for money.
- Negotiating appropriate commercial and contractual arrangements with suppliers and for all products and services within spend control.
- Providing ad hoc procurement management information as requested by the Head of Procurement.
- Producing monthly and quarterly compliance management information for all managers and budget holders.

You will need:

- To be a member of or working towards a Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualification (CIPS).
- Experience across procurement and/or supply chain management within a complex organisation.
- Sound understanding of procurement legislation EU/UK and supplier and contract management.
- To be a strong team player but capable of working without regular supervision.
- Proven ability to grasp new procedures quickly.
- High professional standards and interpersonal behaviour.

The way we work

We work to make sure every child and young person has the love, support and opportunity they need to reach their potential. If you share the same vision, we want you to join our team.

We want our employees to feel valued and rewarded for the vital work they do. When you work with us, we'll recognise your efforts with generous annual leave, a comprehensive employer-matched pension scheme and a range of deals and discounts on our dedicated benefits portal.
