Action for Children's Camden Short Breaks provides activities for children and young people with autism and complex needs, both within our centre and out in the local community. Our goal is to ensure disabled children have the same opportunities in life as their non-disabled peers and support them to make and meet friends, connect with their communities and enjoy new experiences.

How will you make a difference?

  • By working with a diverse group of disabled children and young people and delivering exciting social activities such as arts 'n' crafts, music, games and day trips.
  • By encouraging children and young people to make friends, enjoy their social time and be part of their local communities, as any other child and young person would.
  • By ensuring that children and young people are nurtured in a safe environment.
  • By supporting parents and carers to have a break.

What will you need?

  • No qualifications required as full training will be given however NVQ Level 2 in Childcare (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working with or spending time with disabled children / young people an advantage but not a necessity.
  • A lively personality with a great sense of humour.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for making a difference, with the belief that every child / young person should have the same opportunities in life.
  • Patient nature with the ability to problem solve.
  • Innovative ideas for activities for children and young people to participate in.
  • Ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
