Community Development Worker
Salary: £16,700
Location - Based from Ashington Children's Centre, Northumberland, NE63 9EF - Working across all services within the Locality.
Permanent Full Time working 37 hours a week

What is the role?
To initiate, involve and maintain participation and involvement of local parents/carers in all aspects of the Service. The role is Monday to Friday but there may be very occasional weekend or late night work required.
How will you make a difference?
You'll significantly improve lives:
- By promoting Children's Centre activities in the community
- To be involved with the Parents Forum/groups across the Locality
- By promoting new membership of the Parent's Forum and the parent/carer membership on the Advisory Board
- To recruit, and work with volunteers
- By developing service delivery across the Children's Centres
- To plan and deliver groups/activities with other team members
- Arrange childcare crèche facilities
- Provide information to management to support collection of data for business/delivery plan, quarterly, termly and annual reports
- To undertake risk assessments to ensure a safe and secure environment for delivery of services
- By establishing and maintaining links with external agencies that will promote education and employment opportunities for parent/carers and their children
- To work with families, individuals or in groups to build self-esteem, confidence and ability to develop strategies to help their child's speech and language skills
- To develop and maintain links with community groups across the locality
- By undertaking risk assessments to ensure a safe and secure environment for delivery of services
The person
What you will need?
- NVQ level 3 Early Years and Childcare or equivalent
- Experience of working with families and young children
- Experience of working with/in the community and supporting a child's development
