Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.

The role

Shropshire Community Short Breaks provides support to children and young people with a range of disabilities from complex health to ADHD and Autism (including challenging behaviour). You will be work within community-based activities and supporting children and young people out in the community on activities of their choice.

You will support the children/young people to participate in actives and encourage and promote their practical life and social skills. You will be required to complete relevant paperwork and carry out tasks for which you will be provided with the necessary training. You will need to attend supervisions and team meetings.

we work in conjunction with our local authorities to provide an outcome focused service to children and young people. Our sessions are aimed at providing a fun and safe environment, whilst working towards individual targets / achievements. There may also be opportunities for staff to cover sessions in other projects within our cluster, which will add to your skills and experience.


You will make a difference by:

-Helping young people with a learning disability have a presence in the community.

-Providing a safe environment where they can enjoy time, learn and have fun in a safe setting.

-Working towards giving our young people a positive future.

-Helping them in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness.


You will need:

-Experience of working with children / young people with disabilities is desirable but not essential.

-Ability to drive preferred but not essential

-NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

-Committed to working with young people and children

-Flexibility to work a variation of shift patterns.
