Community Short Breaks Worker (POPS)
Location: Swansea, West Glamorgan
Contract: Part time, term time (9-15 hours).
Salary: £8.50 p/h

Neath Port Talbot Swansea Community Short Breaks provides support to children and young people with a range of disabilities from complex health to ADHD and Autism (including challenging behaviour). You will be working primarily in Swansea, within term-time community-based activities, in small groups, activities at the project base or occasionally caring for a child in their own home (domiciliary care). You will also have the opportunity to work in additional playschemes that run within school holidays.
You will need to be available to work in groups which take place after school and on Saturdays (currently Mon, Tues, Wed 4-7pm and Sat 9.30-12.30 and Sat 1-4pm). You will need to work a minimum of three sessions per week. You will be expected to use your own car to transport the children to and from activities. You will be expected to attend compulsory training each year, including Team Teach, Administration of Medication, Manual Handling passport, First Aid and Food Hygiene (dates/times vary).
You will support the children/young people to undertake practical life skills, develop their social skills as well as facilitate activities. You will need to complete and maintain group registers, group expenses as well as undertaking additional paperwork. You will be required to administer medication and support with personal care when needed. You will need to attend monthly supervisions and quarterly team meetings.
We work in conjunction with our local authorities to provide an outcome focused service to children and young people. Our sessions are aimed at providing a fun and safe environment, whilst working towards individual targets / achievements. There may also be opportunities for staff to cover sessions in other projects within our cluster, which will add to your skills and experience.

What you will need:
- Workers are required to transport children in their own vehicles. Full UK driving licence with Business Cover is essential and workers must have been driving for a minimum of one year.
- Experience of working with children / young people with disabilities.
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
