As a Data Link Systems Engineer, the successful candidate will have the ability to join an excellent team and be responsible for the Systems Engineering aspects of the MICA NG Datalink under development.
What you'll get to do as a Data Link Systems Engineer:
The French Defence Procurement Agency DGA (Direction Générale de l'Armement) has awarded MBDA the contract for the MICA NG (Missile d'Interception et de Combat Aérien Nouvelle Génération) programme to develop the next generation of the MICA missile. With deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026, MICA NG will be available to arm the current and future versions of the Rafale combat aircraft. The MICA NG programme includes an extensive redesign of the present MICA family while keeping the same aerodynamics, mass, and centre of gravity. The technological step changes introduced with this generation change will provide the capability to counter future threats. The candidate will also manage the Systems Engineering aspects of the MICA NG Datalink under development.
- Responsible for systems engineering, requirements definition and validation of the MICA NG Datalink, accountable to the Datalink CofEx Systems Lead.
- Elicit and understand customer needs to develop a complete and coherent system design solution.
- Develop and refine the internally generated requirements for the equipment in collaboration with the Mechanical, Electronic and Software Design Leads.
- RF system performance prediction and assessment
- Support to development and in-service trials and activities
- System concept development
- Resolution of customer and trials-related queries
- Interfacing with the supplier, customer community and its agencies
What we're looking for:
- Experience in system engineering for defence-standard hardware, firmware, and software.
- When applied to secure communication systems, appreciate the RF systems, particularly design challenges associated with RF circuits, information assurance, and cyber security.
- Proficient Rational DOORS user the ability to create and manage requirement modules and associated requirement verification modules within formal change processes.
- Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering.
- Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the capability to write clear concise engineering documentation.
- Confident interaction skills - verbal communication, listening and time management.
- Proficiency in the use of MATLAB
- Top level understanding of RF systems and propagation.
- Must be able to achieve SC clearance.
