Data Observability and Metrics Lead

Department is seeking someone to join their Data Flow Integration team to lead work improving Data Observability and Metrics dashboards. The team works to deliver data from internal and external sources, converting them to data products that can be used by customers to meet the business needs.

This post is focused on improving the ability to know the data holdings, track data through transformation processes and identify down-stream uses. Although centred in DFIVS this post requires collaborative working cross multiple teams to be successful.

What will I be doing?
* Manage the Front Desk schema: you will be responsible for maintaining the Front Desk schema and associated documentation used to underpin the value stream.
* Deliver data observability dashboards: you will be responsible for delivering dashboards using Splunk that enable users to track data through the value stream and identify issues.
* Deliver alerts and reporting against the value stream: you will be responsible for delivering alerts and reports for data governance and enabling teams.
* Analyse complex problems: you will be part of a team who investigate, understand, and resolve issues; seeking to use lean and agile principles to identify improvements each time.
* Collaborate through communication: we work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners and Delivery Leads across engineering and customer teams each with a different piece of the puzzle - being able to communicate ideas, listen to others and reflect understanding is essential for success.
Key responsibilities include:
* Understanding the needs of the diverse stakeholders.
* Aligning work to an agreed roadmap and OKRs.
* Developing dashboards using Splunk to increase data observability.
* Developing alerts to inform users of new or significant incidents.
* Maintaining the Front Desk documentation, using Confluence, and actively communicating changes.
