Guidant are currently looking for an Environmental Enforcement Officer for an initial temporary contract in Brighton & Hove.
Purpose of the Job
To maintain and improve the city's environmental enforcement framework, following current government legislation. Providing an effective service, ensuring that the waste is disposed of responsibly. Enforcement officers help to implement our education and fixed penalty notice service, assisting with any waste management under Environmental Enforcement.
Principal Accountabilities
- Make regular daily foot patrols around Brighton and Hove, covering an assigned area to operate as a deterrent or enforce when an environmental crime has been committed.
- To receive and investigate service requests related to environmental offences such as litter, spitting, urinating, defecating, fly-tipping, fly posting, unauthorised flyering, commercial waste offences and non-compliance of Duty of Care Certificates, graffiti, dog fouling or dog related issues and household waste issues.
- Remain vigilant, observing members of the public and attending local businesses.
- Visit complainants and perpetrators as appropriate and may be required to visit a resident's home.
- Visit business to discuss their waste management arrangements and issue Fixed Penalty Notices where required.
- Maintain up to date knowledge with the relevant parts of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Anti-Social Behaviour, crime and policing Act 2014, Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 and any other legislation which the Council adopts in accordance to this role.
