The role

Dundee Families Service - seeks to offer services to families who are in crisis as a result of breakdown in family relationships, or whose circumstances are such that they are considered to be vulnerable, and in need of assistance.
The aim of the Project is to help families overcome the difficulties which they face, and to help them to make changes which will allow them to sustain mainstream tenancies and stay together by building strong relationships between parents and children.

As a family support practitioner your will be responsible for supporting vulnerable families by engaging them in participating in virtual parenting programmes Parenting programmes are a source of support for all parents and carers and offer an opportunity to share parenting experiences, develop a greater understanding of child development, build positive relationships and learn skills to deal with challenging behaviour.


You will make a difference by:

-Delivering advice and support to vulnerable families

-Building positive relationships with families and children.

-Working collaboratively with partner agencies.

-Working in an integrated way as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team


You will need:

-SVQ Level 3 in Social Care or equivalent

-Experience of working with vulnerable families and an understanding of the issues and barriers they face

-Knowledge and experience of implementing methods of assessment and intervention

-Understanding of safeguarding

-Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and through presentations

-Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
