The role

The Family Sustainment Service provides an early intervention support for families who currently live in private sector tenancies and are at risk of homelessness; in keeping with the DCC Corporate Parenting and Prevention of Homelessness Strategies.

As a family support practitioner your aim will be to prevent families residing in private tenancies becoming homeless and to combat the stigma and the disruption to their lives that this brings. Collaborative working with other agencies such as Private Landlords, Housing Benefits, DWP and the welfare rights teams etc , will be key to succeeding in providing the best outcome possible for the families that need this support.


You will make a difference by:

-Delivering advice and support to families struggling to maintain their current tenancies.

-Building positive relationships with families and children.

-Working collaboratively with partner agencies.


You will need:

-SVQ Level 3 in Social Care or equivalent

-Knowledge of Scottish Tenancies would be highly beneficial.

-Experience of delivering target-based programmes or initiatives

-Knowledge of Safeguarding

-A full UK driving licence is essential for this post.
