We currently have an opportunity for a Divisional Finance Assistant to work as part of the Finance Business team. The Finance Business Assistant will work collaboratively to provide proactive high quality, accurate and timely financial and commercial services to budget holders and their supporting teams, engage with commissioners and other external stakeholders to support effective and efficient contract management.

This role is flexible Mon - Fri between core hours of 9-5pm.

The role

  • Lead, support and work with the Scotland Finance team to deliver AFC financial strategies, objectives and requirements. Achieve contract deliverables whilst meeting AFC bottom line.
  • Improve the financial performance of contracts, reviewing and reporting regularly on establishment, underspends, deliverables and budget performance
  • Assist value added analysis to support decision making through effective proactive support and advice to budget holders in accordance with requirements and standards set by line management, which will include provision of support with the collation of reports, information and analysis and attendance, where necessary, at commissioner/contract and other internal\external meetings as required.
  • Responsibility for liaising with BSOs and Budget Holders to manage transactional postings and database entries. This would include incorrectly coded invoices, P-Cards, GRNs, Auto-accruals, I-Trent and establishment data and reporting.
  • Working with budget holders and other staff to develop and aid their understanding of agreed finance policies, procedures and requirements to enhance their ability to develop confidence and expertise to take greater ownership of delegated financial responsibilities. Whilst also providing training and support on our finance systems TM1 and Open Accounts.
  • Contract Management, follow the agreed process to conduct quarterly contract reviews on all contracts with appropriate operational colleagues and ensuring that salesforce records are up to date and accurate
  • Support on commercial implementation of new services/contracts and the transfer/closure of existing services/contracts.
  • Assist Finance Business Manager with basic administration and reporting tasks when required.

The person

  • A finance qualification or to demonstrate adequate levels of experience
  • A tenacious worker with excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Good written, verbal, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent spreadsheet/IT skills
  • Good analytical ability
  • Ability to motivate, engage and inspire
  • Able to challenge and evaluate
  • Promote best practice
