The role
As part of their response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) created a central hub to provide long-term support to the survivors and those who were bereaved as a result of the tragedy. The centre (based over two floors) hosts RBKC's Dedicated Service, community groups and a range of other partners delivering a wide range of services and activities from case work to therapy to educational activities. The centre also hosts office spaces, community meetings, cultural events, professional meetings and is a welcoming space for any bereaved or survivor to visit.
The voices of the survivors and those who have been bereaved are at the heart of the centre and they continue to shape and evolve the centre as it develops and responds to the needs of the community Covid-19 and the Inquiry.
As a Centre Manager your role will involve facilities management, coordinating the partners use of the space lead a team of activity coordinators, business support all to ensure a smooth running environment, where the successful work can continue.
The remit of the building has had to adapt to Covid guidelines
You will make a difference by:
- Ensuring that the bereaved and survivors who access the centre receive the highest quality customer care - through management of the front desks, room bookings, the environment and facilities.
- Implementation of changing government guidelines into working practices; ensuring effective building and facilities management during the Covid pandemic .
- Oversight of trauma-informed delivery of a range of educational, well-being and resilience activities for children and young people and families .
- Strategically taking forward services and activities by working with partners, gathering feedback from service users, compiling a service plan and motivating staff to deliver on plan.
- Co-ordinating and managing the day to day relationships with the multi-agency partners that operate from the centre, including the chairing of multi-agency meetings where necessary.
- Supporting, developing and managing team members through supervisions, appraisal, team meetings, training and other mechanisms.
- Ensuring that appropriate health and safety requirements are adhered to the highest standard, including risk assessments, reporting, reviewing and induction and training of staff.
You will need:
- Experience of developing and managing projects with children, young people and or families in a multi-agency setting.
- Experience of facilities management including experience of implementing and coordinating health and safety procedures.
- Developing and maintaining effective networks, relationships, partnerships and contacts to improve service outcomes.
- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the issues and challenges facing individuals and families who are survivors and/or bereaved.
- Extensive knowledge of facilities management, support services contracting and performance measurement and monitoring.
- Sensitive to the needs of individuals and the situation faced by the community as a whole.
- Flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances.
