Guidant Global is working with the UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, who needs a skilled Human Factors Engineer to design and develop weapon systems and system architectures in an integral technique in Bristol.

As a Human Factors Engineer, you'll design a capability supporting actions across the complete product life cycle. With previous knowledge, you will play a vital role in ensuring the team integrate authentic products, models, and synthetic environments to provide visualisations, demonstrations, verification & validation, and training capability and support.

What we're looking for:

  • Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF) - (Highly Essential)
  • Substantial & demonstrable Understanding of the application of Human Factors Integration & Human Factors Engineering in a Defence context (Highly Essential)
  • Application defence standards (00-251) and Application of HF in the system lifecycle, including (HFI, Task analysis, HCI specification, user trials and experimentation, physical ergonomics)
  • Use of CAD software such as Jack and use of User Interface prototyping tools, preferably Axure
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering and disciplines that interact with Human Factors (Supportability, Training, Systems), including definition and verification of HF requirements
  • Good Understanding of the Military user community and ways of working
  • MS Office, DOORS

What you'll get to do as a Human Factors Engineer:

  • Integration of Human Factors is critical to developing safe, usable, and effective Weapon Systems. The Human Factors department ensures that user capability is fully considered in the weapon system, from initial design through development and delivery to the customer.
  • Collaborate within our HF team across several national and international projects and research activities.
  • Manage a full range of Human Factors tasks across Weapon System concept development and research activities.
  • Conduct Human Factors Integration through the development lifecycle providing progressive assurance to the customer as per Def Stan 00-251
  • Analysis and assessment of the role of the operator within the weapon system considering weapon system planning, command, and control and Analysis of physical ergonomics and integration into workspaces
  • Human-Computer Interface (HCI) design and prototyping
  • Definition of HF requirements and development and maintenance of lower-level detailed specifications
  • Conduct User Experiments and Trials supporting system concepting, development and verification
