As a trusted UK Ministry of Defence partner, our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their Calibration & Maintenance Team. This varied and technically engaging role supports manufacturing across all stages of assembly, integration and test. You'll work within a driven, collaborative team, partnering with engineers and support functions to resolve routine and complex challenges. An HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to the Metrology Department at the Bolton site
- Support calibration and maintenance of COTS (Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf) equipment and STTE (Special‑to‑Type Test Equipment)
- Assist production teams with technical queries relating to fixtures and tooling
- Support CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection activities
- Guide operators on best practices within the metrology function and respond to day‑to‑day technical queries
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities in measurement methods and processes
- Deliver technical support for mechanical calibration, including high‑ and low‑pressure and temperature calibrations
What do you need?:
- Minimum qualification: HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience calibrating torque tools in line with ISO 6789‑2:2017
- Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Demonstrable experience in dimensional calibration
- Experience using and creating programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
- Knowledge of temperature and pressure calibration is desirable
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, issues and priorities simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
