In this role, you'll lead the delivery of pension administration activities, build strong relationships with internal and external partners, and contribute to wider business success. If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy improving ways of working, and are committed to exceptional service, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the daily activities of the in‑house pensions team, including retirement cases, ill‑health processes, death benefit recommendations, income protection claims, invoicing, and communication campaigns.
- Allocate and plan team resources to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
Stakeholder Management
- Build effective relationships with third‑party pension administrators and internal specialists.
- Liaise with scheme members to resolve queries and provide a clear, supportive experience.
- Foster strong links across the wider UK organisation.
Process & Performance Improvement
- Review, evaluate, and enhance processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service quality.
- Support ongoing pension-related projects alongside the Pensions Project Team.
- Implement changes following regulatory or company policy updates.
Governance & Reporting
- Prepare accurate management information (MI) and reports for a variety of stakeholders.
- Support annual financial scheme audits (typically 1-2 per year).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, pensions legislation, and best practice standards.
What We're Looking For
Skills & Mindset
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- A collaborative mindset with confidence to ask questions, seek clarity, and help drive improvements.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and support team members.
Experience
- Previous experience leading or supporting a pensions administration team.
- Solid pension administration background, ideally 5+ years.
- Experience in large organisations or specialist pension providers (e.g., Mercer, Capita) is highly desirable.
- Experience integrating pension plans within a business is a strong advantage.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (G‑Suite).
- Experience coordinating events, supplier initiatives, or communication activities.
Why This Role Matters
You'll play a key role in ensuring pension scheme members receive accurate, timely, and compassionate support at every stage of their journey. You'll also help drive meaningful improvements in how pension services are delivered-making your impact felt across the organisation.
What's in It for You?
- Opportunity to lead and shape operational delivery within a high‑profile benefits function.
- Exposure to complex pension schemes and large-scale projects.
- A supportive environment where your ideas and contributions are genuinely valued.
- Great stepping stone to senior operations, benefits leadership or specialist pensions roles.
