The role

There are currently 2 houses in our residential home in Oxted, Surrey. We support children and young people aged between 5-19 years with profound and multiple disabilities, including communication difficulties, sensory impairment, complex health needs and challenging behaviour. The home is undergoing some exciting and substantial changes. Plans include local relocation of one of the houses and relocation of the other house to an existing Action for Children site in Kingston, Surrey.

As a Senior Registered Manager, you will be responsible for providing exceptional leadership for the home as it is currently, including registering with Ofsted as the manager. You will have experience of change management and take responsibility for the planned relocation of staff and children to their new homes. You will be required to relocate to the newly refurbished home in Kingston as the manager of the newly refurbished 4 bedded home. This includes registering the home with Ofsted. You will continue to support with the on-going implementation of changes within the children's homes whilst ensuring your home achieves a good to outstanding Ofsted grading. You will enable high quality service delivery which meet the needs of children and families, as well as quality assuring your own service to ensure all aspects of regulatory requirements are met. It is essential that you have a working knowledge of children's home regulations and positive change management.


You will make a difference by:

- Managing the recruitment process for new members of staff and delivering training before the service opens, ensuring sufficient cover is available for all shifts.

- Completing OFSTED registration for the service and liaising with commissioners.

- Being responsible for the overall management of the residential home which will provide care and support to young people including safeguarding and Health & Safety matters, ensuring that all regulating body's expectations are met.

- Managing and leading a team of staff that will provide innovative, responsive, high quality and person centred services to children, young people and their families.

- Providing regular supervision and performance reviews to staff.

- Managing the income and budget, ensuring effective and efficient management of expenditure in the home.

- Establishing and developing effective relationships and channels of communication with colleagues, community organisations, partner agencies and other external agencies, including chairing and leading multi-agency meetings.

- Providing support for assessments and care plans for young people.

You will need:

- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to work towards qualification.

- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent.

- Excellent leadership skills and substantial managerial experience within a similar environment.

- Experience of conducting supervisions, one-to-ones and managing rotas.

- Passionate about working with young people.

- Strong organisation and communication skills.

- Ability to write reports to a high standard.

- Experience of developing and managing stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.

- Able to demonstrate a successful practise of working with OFSTED outcomes

- Experience of children's home standards regulations.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.

- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
