The Wing of Tomorrow R&T programme is looking for a Project Manager to support a bid for public funding, set up the project governance and then monitor and control the project to ensure successful delivery.

Background

To protect and prepare Airbus for launch of a new aircraft, Airbus needs a menu of engineering and industrial technologies. The aim of the Wing of Tomorrow Programme is to define and propose an integrated design and industrial solution for the next generation wing. The target is to achieve Technical Readiness Level (TRL) 6 for the integrated package to support an aircraft EIS in 2030+. The next phase of the programme includes the delivery of 6 large scale wing demonstrators.

The Wing of Tomorrow Programme team is accountable to deliver the required technologies to meet requirements, on time and within budget.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support preparation of a significant bid for a UK public funded contract.
  • Establish a clear project structure including WBS, Schedule, FCAC and Risk Register.
  • Integrate the planning of a multi-functional team (Engineering, Plant, Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering, …..) and manage interfaces with other Workpackages.
  • Engage with external contributing partners, defining clear expectations, collating inputs and facilitating workshops.
  • Ensure that interdependencies between the Wing of Tomorrow Programme and the Public funded project are identified and agreed in UP-3P Project management tool.
  • Monitor & Control progress across internal functions and partners / suppliers, identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliant configuration management of the deliverables, reporting status to the Monitoring Officer.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management.
  • Good knowledge of the Airbus organisation.
  • Experience of R&T and working on public-funded projects is preferred.
  • Experience of working with wing structures is preferred.
  • The applicant should be autonomous, with excellent communication skills, displaying an ability to take initiative with a pragmatic mindset.
  • A good knowledge of aerospace engineering and industrial processes.
  • Good team spirit.
  • English is the working language.
