The role
Monksfield provides care and support to children aged 6-17 years with moderate to severe learning and or complex health and physical disabilities, consisting of two units. Acorn provides 5 short break beds and Adlin House is a 4-bedded long-stay Childrens Homes in Hexham run by Action for Children. We are a highly motivated and supportive team, providing care, encouragement and support to the children who live within Adlin House.
As a Residential Worker, you will be part of a team who are responsible for providing a responsive high quality and customer focused service to disabled children and their families. This is based on an annual assessment of need that is regularly reviewed and outcomes driven and by developing effective working relationships, using various channels of communication with Action for Children colleagues, partner agencies and other external agencies. This role will require occasional waking nights and sleep in's as part of the rota.
Doing vital work that has a direct and lasting effect, you'll be helping some of our most vulnerable children, their families and our society. You will ensure the children in our care are safe, happy and well cared for.
You will make a difference by:
-Case/care planning management for individual children or young people, undertaking assessment of need, developing a care plan and identifying agreed outcomes and carrying out regular reviews.
- Leading and working on shifts with accountability for service delivery, assessing and managing risks, deploying staff and resources accordingly.
- Supervising, guiding or directing staff and volunteers where required and provide mentoring to newly appointed staff.
- Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with Action for Children's policy and procedures and regulatory requirements.
-Undertaking assessment of children and young people co-ordinating multi agency and family information, analysing and producing reports; attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
You will need:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare OR Children and Young people OR equivalent relevant qualifications.
- Experience of working with children and young people with additional needs.
- Commitment to working on a 24-hour shift rota pattern which includes evenings, weekends and some bank holidays.
- Access to a driving license and a vehicle would be desirable due to the location and the opportunity to be trained to drive the home's minibus.
