Reuse Shop Assistant
Location: Tewin Rd, Welwyn Garden City AL7 1BD
Hours: 40 per week
Contract type: Temporary
Pay Rate: £13.06 per hour
About the Role
As a Reuse Shop Assistant, you'll support the running of our reuse shop, which sells good‑quality items that would otherwise go to waste. You'll receive full training to assess which items are suitable for sale, and you'll also support local charities and community groups by organising donations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Moving and handling stock, including transporting items from collection points to the shop
- Assisting customers and helping load purchased items into vehicles
- Testing and logging electrical items (training provided)
- Cleaning and preparing items for sale
- Creating attractive product displays
- Taking accurate payments and providing great customer service
- Posting updates on our Facebook page and responding to queries
- Working weekends and most bank holidays as required
About You
We're looking for an enthusiastic team player who can use their initiative and contribute positively to the service. You'll need to:
- Communicate clearly and politely with customers and colleagues
- Manage money confidently
- Use a computer or be willing to learn
- Be physically fit enough for regular lifting and moving of items
- Hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle if you need to travel between shops (mileage reimbursed)
