The role

This is an exciting time to join Action for Children in the development of a new partnership with Orkney Island Council. We are committed to supporting Children and Young people's mental health and wellbeing through early intervention and flexible whole family support. With a focus on the identification of young people who need support the service will identify their needs and target the response effectively. Working with all partners within Orkney Island Council (Orkney Health and Care, Education, Health and the Third Sector) the post is integral in coordinating early interventions. Testing out new approaches in close collaboration with local partners will be at the heart of delivery.

We are looking for a Service Coordinator to implement this service alongside partners in education, social work and health. The co-ordinator will work to implement new systems and approaches and will have direct delivery responsibility with children and families. Ideally with some experience of co-ordination the post holder will be an experienced communicator with the capacity to develop effective partnership relationships and deliver effective intervention through high quality, outcomes focused support services to children and families. The role will require a flexible approach with regular evening and weekend work and some travel requirements across Orkney Islands Council.

-Linking closely with all partners including, children and families in Orkney, Orkney Health and Care, Education Services, Community Learning and Development and the Third Sector.



You will need:

-SVQ4 or equivalent in youth work, working with families, childcare or other relevant field.

-Experience of Service Co-ordination.

-Experience of staff management or supervision is desirable

-Ability to develop and manage working partnerships.

-Experience of delivering early intervention-based programmes

-Involvement in working with children, young people and families

-A commitment to supporting Children and Young people's mental health.
