The role

Roots of Empathy is an international, evidence-based classroom programme that has shown significant effect in reducing levels of aggression among schoolchildren by raising social/emotional competence and increasing empathy. Action for Children are the lead agency for Roots of Empathy in Scotland and we deliver programmes nationally across 22 local authority areas.

As a Service Coordinator you will provide support to Roots of Empathy instructors and schools nationally, to ensure that programme fidelity is being adhered to protect the quality and evidence base of the programme.

It is essential that you are experienced in using all Microsoft packages and video conferencing platforms as part of the role will be to support instructors to use these packages and platforms.


You will make a difference by:

- Supporting the mentoring programme and ensuring all instructors have access to a mentor.

-Supporting in the collation of data and feedback for reporting.

- Communicating effectively and transparently on a variety of levels to partners and stakeholders and Roots of Empathy Canada.

-Supporting service co-ordinator in the role out of training and ongoing professional development of instructors.

- Supporting instructors to deliver programmes digitally.


You will need:

- SVQ 3 or HNC desirable but essential.

- Experience working within a multi-agency social care.

- Experience of managing cases, in accordance with agreed procedures and completing assessments, planning and reviews to ensure positive outcomes

- Ability to communicate effectively and engagingly and to maintain independent professional relationships, boundaries

- Working knowledge of an outcome based approach to planning, delivering and reviewing services.

- Demonstrable prioritising and organising skills

- Producing concise and accurate reports to agreed standards, formats and timelines, which may be used ultimately for formal reviews.

- Utilising management systems and databases to record and retain case and other related data.
