The role
Action for Children have been commissioned by Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group to establish 2 new Mental Health Support Teams (MHST's) and continue the delivery of 4 recently established MHST's teams across 6 Centres of Excellence until December 2022.
MHST's will provide mental health and emotional wellbeing support to children and young people and their families and carers through schools in the Centre of Excellence areas. Each MHST will support several schools and colleges, covering a population of around children and young people.
We are looking for 6 Service Co-ordinators to lead our Changing Lives MHST's in Centres of Excellence across Derbyshire and Derby City. 3 positions will be based in Derby City, 1 in South Derby and 2 in North Derby. As a Service Coordinator you will be responsible for a MHST, you will work closely with the schools in that area and with a range of other professionals to ensure the children and young people you support develop to their full potential. You will be required to develop, implement, and monitor the delivery of an EWB plan that meets the needs of CYP in the area. You will lead and manage a team of Education Mental Health Practitioners and working alongside the Clinical Supervisor and hold the highest aspirations for children and young people. You will also liaise closely with other Co-ordinators to ensure compliance and excellence. We will actively support you in your role and provide you with training, development and supervision required for the role.
You will work closely with the Changing Lives Childrens Service Manager, Derby University, Derby and Derbyshire Council's Mental Health leads and the Centre of Excellence lead to ensure the service is delivered according to contract requirements and the individual needs of children and young people in that area.
You will make a difference by:
- By leading and being responsible for the delivery of quality services, including operational and strategic planning and the deployment of resources and to work with commissioners and other external bodies.
- By leading and managing a team of Educational Mental Health workers.
- By working closely and collaborating with are partner agencies.
- By participating in, chairing, facilitating and leading of relevant multiagency meetings e.g. service planning meetings, home visits and conference meetings, where appropriate.
You will need:
- EMHP clinical supervision qualification is desirable if not you may be required to complete this training
- Experience in a leadership role within services working with children, young people and families.
- Experience of working with children, young people and families in a school and/or mental health setting.
- Experience of supervising staff who are carrying out direct work with children and families.
- Previous exposure of delivering targeted early interventions to children and young people.
- A proven record of working collaboratively with others and responding to safeguarding concerns.
- Experience of liaising with parents and other professionals regarding children and young people.
- Experience of representing the organisation at external events.
