Pay Rate: up to £41.21 per hour PAYE and up to £55.00 per hour through an Umbrella Company
Overview of the Simulation Developer role and the department you will be assigned to:
You will be working within a department who are integral in the development of weapon systems and system architectures, and as a result have developed a capability supporting developments across the full product life cycle.
You will be working within a team who integrate real products, models and synthetic environments to provide visualisations, demonstrations, verification & validation as well as training capability and support.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- You will be tasked to support the development of the world's most advanced defence systems from the initial concepts with advanced visualisation techniques (AR/VR) and demonstrations all the way through to in service support and training.
- you will work with Project Leads and Simulation Architects to design and develop simulation components as an end to end representation of a weapon System in a synthetic environment using C#, C++ and integration simulations (DIS/HLA/DDS).
- You will work as part of a heterogeneous agile development team, made up of mixed discipline engineers working in synergy to develop synthetic environments.
- You will followWSSE's agreed approach to software development including
- Configuration control
- Continuous Integration
- Continuous Delivery or Deployment.
- Unit testing and test driven development.
The successful Simulation Developer will have the following skills and experience to carry out the duties assigned to the role:
- Proficient in C# / C++ / Java.
- Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse.
- Ability to work from high level/system view into technical detail.
- Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of using Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
Non-essential:
- Distributed simulation standards / Protocols (DIS, HLA, DDS) and web services development (JavaScript, Node JS or similar) Military Communications.
- Datalinks and Interfaces such as 1553/1760 and Ethernet TCP/IP.
- Practical knowledge of System integration principles and processes.
The role can be based in Bristol or Stevenage and both locations offer excellent transport links, and are in close proximity to Bristol Airport and London Stansstead Airport respectively, and is commutable from Weston-super-Mare, Portishead, Bath, Chippenham, Stroud, Melksham,Warminster, Swindon, Gloucester and Cheltenham for Bristol and Hitchen, Letchworth Garden City, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Hoddesdon and Harlow for Stevenage.
Due to the nature of the work our client is involved with, suitable candidates will already be SC cleared or eligible to gain this level of clearance.
