Guidant are currently looking for 3 Sports Head Coaches, 1 of which will need to speacialise in skateboarding. As a Head Coach you will be reuired to plan, and implement high quality sport and physical activity sessions on behalf of the Healthy Lifestyles Team with the aim of encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle for Brighton & Hove residents.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. To plan and deliver safe, high quality, activities that are progressive and reflective of the needs of the participants.

  2. To ensure all activities are implemented in line with the policies and procedures outlined in the Sports Development Coach Induction Pack

  3. To oversee the general safety and behaviour of the participants in accordance with the council's procedures.

  4. To supervise the work of the sports assistants and volunteers and provide support, advice, guidance and feedback, where applicable to ensure a high standard of delivery is maintained.

  5. To act as the main point of contact at the activity sessions, and maintain high levels of customer service and satisfaction recognising its importance and relevance to the success of the project / organisation.

  6. To be responsible for the collection and accounting of any fees received from participants at activity sessions and courses.

  7. To be responsible for the collection, set up and dismantling of appropriate sports equipment ensuring safe and secure storage when required.

  8. To be responsible for registering participants and managing session registers used to support the monitoring and evaluation of all sessions, activities and programmes as directed, and offer feedback to support the continued development of high quality sport and exercise provision

  9. To promote the activities, and the wider work of the Healthy Lifestyles Team e.g TakePart, and suitable exit routes, to help encourage active living by local residents.

Job Related Education, Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Appropriate qualification satisfying minimum standards to operate as a lead coach. (e.g. Level 2 National Governing Body Qualification)

  • Knowledge and understanding of principles of planning and delivering sports coaching

  • Commitment to acquiring awareness and knowledge of Health and Safety policy and practice as it applies in their area of work

  • Ability to co-operate and adhere to Health and Safety Policy, practices and instructions

  • Hold a current HSE approved Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification

  • Ability to work flexible hours. Occasionally training or meetings will be held outside normal working hours.

Experience

  • Experience of leading the delivery of sport and physical activity sessions.

  • Experience and understanding of working with children and young people and different client groups / different ages and abilities.

  • Demonstration of strong organisational skills

  • A practical understanding of Health & Safety requirements and conducting Risk Assessments

  • Experience of supervising and supporting sports assistants and volunteers
