You will be responsible for the preparation of VAT, corporation tax, CIS and other submissions, with tax manager review and complete month end procedures relating to tax, including posting required journals and completing balance sheet reconciliations. You will also lead on all group tax compliance matters acting as a tax technical specialist, to advise on, deliver and take accountability for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business' direct and indirect tax affairs including VAT, Corporation tax and CIS matters.

Duties of a Tax/Financial Accountant:

  • Maintain and develop appropriate policies for tax compliance for the business.
  • Maintain and develop robust processes and procedures to improve the efficiency of the calculation and production of VAT returns using system functionality, ensuring that these are correctly and fully documented as an integral part of the overall departmental procedures.
  • Support tax manager in preparing for "making tax digital" and any future developments in this area.
  • Complete the planning, preparation and analysis of all relevant tax returns.
  • Prepare the corporation tax return including that for individual subsidiaries where necessary and ensure appropriate accounting transactions and submission to HM Revenue and Customs are within prescribed deadlines;
  • Prepare payment where required and submission of the VAT Group tax return and any returns for any companies registered outside the VAT Group;
  • Handle all VAT compliance issues, including preparing any voluntary disclosures required to HMRC for review;
  • Prepare the payment and submission of the corporate tax returns for trading entities and supply such details as are necessary for preparation of charitable returns which may have been requested by HMRC

Experience

  • At least 2 years' experience in a tax role
  • Experience in either UK Corporation tax or UK VAT
  • Tax accountant experience is preferable
