The role

Are you a passionate and empathic individual with a positive attitude, who is willing to the extra mile to improve the transition period for Care Experienced Young people (CEYP)? If so, come join our team. We are currently recruiting for a Young Persons Practitioner to work in our Skills Plus service in North Wales.

Skills Plus is a psychosocial skill building intervention for Young People in or leaving care aged between 14 and 24. We provide therapeutic interventions based on Dialectical behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to improve the emotional and social well-being of our service users.

The service is for young people who experience significant distress and relationship difficulties, who struggle to maintain consistency and who may not be fulfilling their potential. We also focus on employability. Together, we are working to give young people the practical and life skills to enable them to transition into happy, health adults.

You will make a difference by:

  • managing a small case load of Young People across North Wales.
  • delivering groups to promote independence.
  • using CBT tolls to encourage engagement with CEYP and to also explore emotions and improve their health and wellbeing.
  • providing a high-quality customer focused service to service users on a needs-based assessment.
  • building and maintaining positive relationships and committing to providing a safe environment.
  • attending meetings with other key individuals involved in the are of a Service User and completing relevant paperwork.

You will need:

  • Health and Social care qualification or experience.
  • A passion to make a change.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of Safeguarding.
  • Driver's licence and access to own car - to use for business purposes is essential.
  • Confident in delivering group sessions.
  • A Welsh speaker is desirable.
