Duties and responsibilities:

Main areas of responsibility for will include:

▪ Support the delivery of management accounting services to UCL including cost management identifying and ensuring accounting entries required are made to ensure the accuracy of management accounts

▪ Support cashflow management to ensure the current balance and projected balances are maintained and accurate identifying the need for intervention and escalating as necessary

▪ Perform variance analysis on the month end reporting and working with finance staff in the business areas identify the underlying reasons for any unexpected differences

▪ Manage and review the budget and forecast template returns, either supporting administrators in updating the templates with budgets and forecasts or reviewing returns to ensure information is complete and accurate

▪ Produce monthly management accounts and dashboards with supporting commentary to enable monitoring and support management insight

▪ Perform reviews and reconciliations of the accounts and ensure any accounting entries required are made to maintain the accuracy of the accounts

▪ Support the delivery of continuous customer service including identifying and initiating improvements to financial systems, processes, workflows, management information and management and reporting of financial opportunities and risks

▪ Perform all general accounting to maintain compliance with financial regulations and external audit requirements

▪ Disseminate good practice and provide guidance and training on management accounting issues to include the Chart of Accounts, financial regulations, management of accounts and budgetary control

▪ Developing good working relationships with colleagues across finance to share best practice and to develop new systems and processes

▪ Contributing to training events where relevant to share specific skills and experience with finance colleagues from across the business

▪ Contributing to team initiatives, adopting a collaborative and supportive approach

▪ Delivering on other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading

In carrying out the above duties the post holder is expected to:
