The role

Our Silverton Short Breaks Service is an important part of our work. Our service offers support to children and young people from the ages 5 through to 18 who have from disabilities. The service wishes to reduce the impact of the disability on the child's day to day life, by providing support for them & their families based on a range of services. Residential overnight stays, outreach support, after school sessions, weekend clubs, 1 to 1 community support & self directed support bespoke packages.

The service will be aiming to increase their services range to a new service based in Lanarkshire in which your help will come in.

As an Assistant Residential Worker (nights), you will be based within our residential short break service in Hamilton. You will work 2 nights per week 9.15pm - 8.15am on a rota basis.



You will make a difference by:

-Helping young people with a learning disability have a presence in the community.

-Supporting young people with their needs during the night emotional support personal care and maintaining a clean safe and nurturing environment.

-Helping our youngsters learn and have fun in safe settings.

-Supporting parents to cope, be resilient and develop their own skills.

-Providing a safe environment where they can enjoy time with their friends.

-Working towards giving them a positive future.

-Helping them in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness.


You will need:

- Experience working within a care environment preferably working with children and young people with learning disabilities, their families and carers.

- A HNC Social Care qualification or equivalent would be desirable but not essential. If you do not have any qualifications, you must be willing to commit to study towards them (endorsed by AFC).

- To register with the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) within 6 months of starting post.
