The role

Short Breaks @ West Hyde has the primary aim and focus to provide quality, outcome-driven support to children and young people between the ages of 5-18 that have complex health issues, learning disabilities and/or behavioural and sensory impairments.

As an Assistant Residential Worker, it will be your responsibility to liaise with the Children, Young people and their families to ensure that their care is always to the best possible standard. You will also be supporting them with all aspects of their care and helping them to work on aims and goals both within West Hyde and out in the wider community.

You will make a difference by:

- Providing a safe and fun environment to achieve positive outcomes.
- Encouraging communication and participation across the service.
- Promoting independence.
- Completing general household chores.
- Building excellent rapports with Service Users, their families and other care professionals.
- Updating care plans and risk assessments.
- Preparing meals from the menu.
- Ensuring safeguarding practices are in place.
- Supporting service users in their day to day activities.


You will need:

- Experience of working with Children or Young people is preferable (experience working with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour would also be an advantage) but full training is provided.
- Level 3 QCF Working with Children and Young People or equivalent is desirable, or the willingness to work towards this.
- An open mind with a positive attitude is a MUST.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Be able to be adaptable to change.
