The role

This is an exciting new role covering the Bolton area where we currently deliver a range of programmes aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of children and young people aged between 7 and 18.

We have been successful in securing funding that provides the chance for children and young people with some of the poorest health outcomes to have a meaningful input and influence change for the future.

We are looking for a candidate who has a sound understanding of the issues children and young people are experiencing right now. As an Engagement Worker you will be supported to organise a variety of group-based events & discussions for the purpose of gathering young people's views about emotional health and wellbeing services, education and care and how they might be improved.

You may have come from a background where you have experienced struggles yourself or you may have gained experience through caring for someone who has been impacted with the experience of statutory services involvement.

There may be occasional early evening or weekends work. This is fantastic opportunity to really make a positive impact to the lives of Children and Young People whose views we want to be heard and, start your journey with one of the UK's leading Children's charities.

You will make a difference by:

- Having excellent and creative communication skills.

-Utilising online media channels such as Facebook, Twitter for the purpose of our research

-Having an excellent understanding of Bolton, its communities, and its needs.

-Being able to travel easily across the Bolton area.

-Experience of working with children and young people in either groups and or 1:1.

-Being able to operate in a range of settings i.e community groups, schools, and be able to engage and establish relationships with key contacts.

-Understand 'hidden' and vulnerable children and young people's experiences.

You will need:

- A good standard of General education or NVQ 2 or equivalent in a related field.

- Ability to engage and work with children, young people and their families, demonstrating a range of communication skills i.e. written, verbal applied in a variety of formats and situations
- To be able to work in different settings i.e. community centres, schools

- Experience of working as part of a team or as an individual to deliver a frontline service.

- Ability to complete clear and concise file notes and be able to input information into office systems.

- Experience of preparing, organising, reviewing and delivering individual and or group work.
