How you'll make a difference:
Based in our Holborn offices Monday to Friday 9-5pm, we are looking for a Governance Assistant and Executive Assistant to the Chair. You will work within our Governance Team and closely with our Chair of trustees, trustees and other governance volunteers to ensure Action for Children delivers effective and high-quality governance. You will act as a timely first point of contact and administrative and coordination support on Governance matters.
You will do this through a wide variety of activities, surrounding subjects such as:
- Taking responsibility for and managing core administrative processes underpinning effective governance, such as detailed annual planners, work and action logs, support for trustee recruitment etc
- Providing support to governance meetings, including the collation of packs, logistics etc
- Proactive assistance to the Chair of trustees, including management of diaries, referring issues and overseeing responses and keeping the Chair is updated on the issue and actions taken
- Managing facilities, travel and accommodation arrangements
- Building effective working relationships with all trustees, co-opted members, Executive Leadership Team and Senior Managers, to enable effective strategic management of the charity and expeditious and accurate responses to matters of governance
- Supporting the monitoring and evaluating of governance systems, implementing changes where needed that are compliant with legal, regulatory and constitutional requirements - facilitating all necessary actions

What you will need:
- Demonstrable and excellent administrative skills
- Experience of providing executive level support, including travel
- Experience of organising and servicing meetings, including minute taking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a good command of written and verbal English
- Ability to develop and build effective working relationships with colleagues at various levels
- Excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrable organisational and planning skills
- Experience of working with a varied workload and competing priorities efficiently and effectively
- Evidence of continued professional and personal development
- Knowledge of and understanding of organisation and management of a large company
- 3rd sector knowledge desirable
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft outlook packages
It is also important to note that a degree level education is preferable
