Our Clients depot is a busy centralised production and storage hub providing temporary signage and traffic management for mainland UK. The post holder will be required to carry out a range of production related duties including:
- Planning and production of signage in accordance with signs schedules, procedural requirements and safe operating procedures in a self-sufficient manner
- Moving signs and other equipment around the depot
- Loading and unloading pallet cages, vehicles and storage racking using a forklift truck (FLT) on an irregular basis (FLT training will be provided if necessary)
- Stripping and cleaning signs that have been returned to the depot
- Checking and maintaining stock levels, record keeping, repairing and disposing of damaged signs and equipment
- Cleaning equipment and signs
- Working closely with the manager, coordinator and other staff employed at the Depot as part of the production team
- To fully contribute at production hub planning meetings
- Driving a van for delivery purposes
Main Duties:
- Operate as a production operative at the Depot; ensuring that all machinery, traffic management equipment, signage, racking, benches and pallets are clean, unobstructed and fit for purpose throughout.
- To carry out basic day to day operator maintenance for the depot fork lift truck and to maintain associated records. (FLT training will be provided if necessary)
- Prepare all signs held in stock or being returned from deployments to make them ready for re-use by cleaning off laminate material; using the prescribed method and disposing of the waste laminate as directed.
- On an ongoing basis to prioritise, deliver and maintain the operational production process aligned to changing and competing business requirements; bringing problem issues to the attention of the coordinator/manager as directed.
- Application of laminate wording, patches and symbols to sign plate; ensuring the layout of the sign is strictly in accordance with the schedules/drawings supplied and that each sign meets design rule and quality criteria.
- Prepare cones, frames, and all associated equipment to be ready for utilisation. This will be achieved by removing materials from stock, checking against each signs schedule; cleaning where appropriate and ensuring that each item of stock is fit for deployment.
- Load/unload; pallets, cages and vehicles according to production/delivery deadlines for transportation of signs and equipment to delivery locations.
- Check that all required materials are loaded to the exact requirement for each job and following their return to depot; checking the stock back in, as well as identifying any damaged materials that may require replacement
- Support the activity of temporary/zero hours/agency team members working in depot production area who will report to the production operative to be tasked as part of the production team.
- Irregularly to produce additional wording and symbols by using a letter cutting machine to enable signs to be prepared for delivery to signs officers. (Full training will be given)
- Safely operate the depot forklift truck and pallet trolley for transporting heavy loads to and from delivery vehicles and racking in a safe manner. (Full training will be given if necessary)
- Carry out stock takes as directed.
- Maintain stock held at depots through correct handling procedures with the safe and efficient storage of all equipment together with its ongoing maintenance; including records of disposal.
- Additionally, ensuring that the workshop environment remains clean and tidy and that any waste products are correctly disposed of in accordance with guidance.
- To make basic use of the IT signage system in support of the depot production role. (Full training will be given)

Full driving licence
Desirable:
An approved and experienced forklift truck driver who has experience of working with this type of machine in a warehouse environment
