Business and Project Management Controller

The BPMS reports to the Business Engineering Manager (BEM), part of the Business Operations Team within the Landing Gear Centre of Competence (CoC). The BPMS roles are functionally controlled by ELO, but individuals will be deployed within the various Domains that make up the CoC.

The role is essentially to act as a critical friend within the allocated Domain on behalf of Business Operations, ensuring processes are implemented in a consistent manner via application of the Landing Gear CoC Operational Management System (OMS).

Tasks

The role will typically involve the following activities:

Workload

· Track the generation and subsequent updates of Statements of Work (SoW), ensuring high quality workload data is provided

· Ensure the EL business management toolset (iBridge) contains current workload forecast data to support meaningful resource allocation

Schedule

· Capture and monitor a full set of scheduled milestones for a Programme area

· Maintain summary schedules (i.e. Domain Schedule and its associated lines of the EL level engineering plan), taking clear inputs from Heads of Activity (HoA)

Performance

· Generate and record KPI data for monitoring and reporting Domain performance

· Analyse KPI data and launch/co-ordinate a detailed root cause analysis and plan for recovery

Risk and Opportunity management

· Oversee the application of the EL Risk & Opportunity management plan within the Domain

· Review and analyse data held in the Airbus Risk Management database to assure appropriate risk mitigation

Finance

· Maintain an up to date released budget status under configuration control to support subsequent budget uplifts via the change process

· Review discrepancies between actual and planned spend, manage reporting and recovery actions

· Review weekly hours bookings, challenging miss-booking/failure to book and other anomalies

Sub-contracting

· Support all aspects of offload administration, including Domain offload order volumes, PO raising / amendments, GRs, order closedown etc

· Monitor the sub-contracting Task Card Tracker and assure data integrity

· Maintain the Domain's offload plan, consolidating offload requirements for all suppliers/packaged work suppliers

General topics

· Promote deployment of ELO OMS modules within the Domain, providing feedback from the operational teams

· Use of any applicable IT toolsets that can improve on the current ways of working and support the team in moving towards efficient, digital processes

· Manage all actions allocated to the Domain, ensuring quality outcomes on schedule

· Bring new ideas to improve ways of working across EL

Essential Requirements, Skills and Experience

· Educated in Business Management

· Excellent organizational skills

· Effective operational control management within a large transnational, multicultural environment

· Autonomous and open minded with a proactive approach towards work and problem resolution

· Competent at delivering oral and written communications at all levels

Desirable Skills

· Have a good understanding of the Engineering and Airbus UK environment

· Able to analyse and synthesize information from multiple sources

· Ability to challenge the status quo and propose alternative approaches

· Contribute fully to continuous improvement and change management

· Logical and analytical approach, able to visualize the end to end process

Additional Information

The business are looking for a small deployed team of project controllers, made up of people who are diligent in tracking project and ensuring delivering to committed deadlines.

Activities will generally involve progress/action chasing, analysing spend vs budgets, provisioning purchase order cover and reviewing project performance. They need to have ability to persuade and influence within a team of engineers, supporting a drive to standardised processes and assist in change initiatives.

Excellent communication skills are essential with internal and external stakeholders.

Must be driven to deliver, with an eye to detail and an ability to interpret situations quickly and accurately, and responding accordingly.

A wide ranging role in terms of business disciplines, but all centred on operational business management activities. A real advantage will be the ability to see the big picture whilst also able to get into detailed administrative tasking, e.g. purchase order and delivery management.

Experience in Airbus an advantage but open to all backgrounds as long as they have the relevant depth of experience. If they have experience of successfully delivering using sub-contracted suppliers it would be useful.

The successful candidate would be expected to work a 35 hour week at an hourly rate of £25.00 Ltd Company or £19.19 PAYE.

The initial length of contract is for 12 months with an expectation it may extend.
