Salary: Circa £22,500 per annum

The Vines is a short break residential service for children and young people aged between 11 and 19 with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. We strive and work towards providing top tiered person - centered care. We also hold various activities on a day to day basis to encourage social experiences and promote equality and diversity throughout the service. In addition to using our own facilities and grounds we support children and young people to access activities within local community settings.
As Residential Worker, it will be your responsibility to lead shifts as well as ensuring that the care that is being provided is to the best possible standard.
You will be working on a rolling rota which will consist of earlies (7am to 3pm), lates (2pm to 10pm) and alternate weekends.
How will you make a difference?
- By leading and supporting the rest of the team on shift.
- By ensuring safeguarding practices are in place.
- By supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and procedures in line with the services policies and procedures.
- By providing a safe and fun environment to achieve positive outcomes.
- By encouraging communication and participation across the service.
- By promoting independence.
- By attending appointments and meetings.
- By building excellent rapports with Service Users, their families and other care professionals.
- By contributing to the development and evaluation of care plans and risk assessments.
What will you need?
- A real compassionate and positive attitude is a MUST
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- The ability to work well within a team
- Hold previous leadership skills but training will be supplied for the right candidate
- Have the type of mentality to see this as a career step not another job
- Previous experience working with either Children or Service Users with Learning Disabilities would be an advantage but once again training will be provided
- NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or the willingness to work towards it
