The role

Our Place is a newly opened, OFSTED registered, 4 bedded permanent residential unit for children and young people aged between 8 - 18 who have various learning and physical disabilities.

As a Residential Worker you'll help the team provide a safe, stimulating, fun and caring environment, supporting the children with household tasks and all aspects of their care. You'll also attend training, team meetings and supervision during the day.

You will make a difference by:

- Providing a safe environment for the children and young people.

- Helping them in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness.

- Supporting the Team Leader and Registered Manager to ensure the service is fully compliant and inspection-ready at all times.

- Leading shifts and taking the lead in coordinating the children's support and care.

- Supervising junior staff on shift and formal supervision.

- Sleeping in 1 to 2 nights a week.

- Promoting independence and Equality & Diversity throughout the service.


You will need:

- Previous experience and knowledge working with Service users with Learning Disabilities and Physical Disabilities and challenging behaviour.

- Commitment to working on a 24-hour shift rota pattern, which includes evenings, weekends and some bank holidays.

- A Level 3 Diploma (formerly known as NVQ) in Health and Social Care or equivalent - we can help you achieve this if you're not qualified, although this must be completed within 18 months of joining our team.

- Experience of working with disabled young people.

- The ability to use MS Office to record case notes.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Safeguarding knowledge.

- A positive approach, providing a fun environment for all the children in our care.

- It would be desirable to have some previous supervisory experience and of leading a shift.
