Giving children and young people the foundations they need to thrive.
The role
Stoneside Short Breaks Service provides a service throughout the year to upwards of 35 families . Our respite service accommodates a maximum 4 young people at any one time who have various learning disabilities or challenging behaviour. Both services are collated with the Stoneside Family support service in the south side of Glasgow.
There is a residential service attached to the project for 3 young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour who live there on a permanent basis. There will be occasions that there will be a necessity to cover shifts in this service where the service needs require it.
As a Residential Worker you will be encouraging and supporting young people between the ages 8 and 18 in reaching their full potential and achieving new objectives by creating a stimulating environment whilst ensuring safety at all times. You will be planning and supporting young people in taking part in activities based at the service as well as out in the community such as trips to the cinema, soft play, beach, swimming, bowling and various other sports activities in order to develop their social and life skills. You will also provide support with day to day activities, attend to personal care and administer medication following appropriate training.
You will make a difference by:
-Supporting children to achieve positive outcomes for their future.
-Supporting with medical needs or support during the night if needed for the young person.
-Providing a safe environment for them to enjoy time with their friends.
-Giving families the break they need to continue supporting their amazing children.
-Assisting the children in all aspects of their care and supporting their health and wellbeing.
