The role

Bradbury House provides quality residential overnight short breaks for up to seven young disabled people aged 0 - 18 years old, that provides a secure and nurturing space. This is achieved by focusing on the needs of young people with a flexible approach to all aspects of care. They encourage them to participate in a range of activities such as cooking, physical activities, games and arts and crafts during their stay as well as activities in the local community.

As a Residential Worker your role will be to ensure a fun environment in which young people feel safe, can discover their value and worth as individuals and gain a sense of their own self. They are looking for individuals with positive energy and creativity to deliver these successfully.


You will make a difference by:

- Taking a lead with case / care planning management for individual children or young people, undertaking assessment of need, developing a care plan, identifying agreed outcomes and carrying out regular reviews.

- Leading and working on shifts with accountability for service delivery, assessing and managing risks, deploying staff and resources accordingly while on shift.

- Maintaining personalised high-quality care.

- Supporting, supervising, guiding or directing staff and volunteers where required, and provide mentoring to newly appointed staff.

- Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures.

- Building and maintaining professional positive working relationships by providing emotional and social support to children and young people.

- Working within the community to assist the child / young person and their family, promoting communication and participation by ensuring that the views and needs of children / young people are articulated, heard and responded to.

- Ensuring all records are maintained and duly uploaded into the appropriate database.

You will need:

- Relevant qualification in Social Care to at least Level 3.

- A minimum of two years' experience in a position relevant to the residential care of children and young people, with at least one year in a role taking on additional responsibilities e.g. shift leading in a care role.

- Experience in the provision of services for disabled children, young people or adults.

- Experience in safeguarding disabled children and young people / adults.

- Skilled in undertaking needs assessments of children and young people / adults.

- An outcomes focused approach to work with children and young people.

- Innovative and creative approaches to problem solving.
