The role
We are looking for Residential Workers for our Outreach Service in Edinburgh and Lothians. The Gilmerton Road Outreach Service delivers a stimulating and safe environment through Outreach service for children/young people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, and complex needs from the age of 5 years to 18 years old.
Our Outreach programme not only supports children and young people but also find out the ways to support their parents and carers in properly according to their individual and specific needs. A combination of building and community-based activities will promote inclusion and broaden children's experiences. This role is a combination of flexi hours between Monday - Thursday 1:30pm-7.30pm, Friday 11am - 5:00pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm and Sunday 8am to 2pm or 12pm to 6pm. The 18 hours contract will be spilt over the three working days.
Qualifications would be beneficial; however, full training will be provided, and you will have a support time frame from SSSC to complete your qualification.

- Providing strong key person role and strong partnership with parents you will significantly improve young people's lives through strong key person role and strong partnership with parents.
- Providing a safe environment where they can enjoy time and improve their personal, social, and emotional development.
- Working towards giving them a positive future through encouraging to involve in day-to-day routine and play (outdoor, indoor).
- Helping them in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness through key person role, daily interaction and making a bridge between home and setting through partnership and strong relationship with parents/carers.
- Working as a strong partnership with agencies so, children and young people can reach on their full potential according to their individuality.
You will need:
-Commitment to work on a flexi rota from Wednesday to Sunday, during school holidays, bank holidays including evenings and weekends.
-A valid driving licence, and a suitable means of transport to enable the duties of the role to be carried out.
-Competent knowledge of National Care Standards, Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and The Outdoor World.
-Clear knowledge of behaviour challenging children and young people.
-Ideally, a HNC and SVQ 3 in a social care discipline, or a qualification in social care, nursing, education, which would meet the registration requirements.
-Experience of working with disabled, behaviour challenging and complex need children and young people.
-Clear knowledge of Children and Families Safeguarding.
