The role

Preparation for life are a 10-bed residential housing project providing one to one support for young people aged 16-21 who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. We provide medium term accommodation for young people supporting them to develop the skills to manage and maintain a future housing tenancy. Looking to the future, we support young people to focus on their development through budgeting, cooking, bill paying, employability and health support.

We are looking for a young person's worker to join our existing team.


You will make a difference by:

-Providing a supportive role to Young Person's Practitioners (YPP) through practical care and support interventions to young people

-Responding to and dealing with any safeguarding / child protection issues immediately & effectively

-Building supportive relationships with our young people to help them achieve positive outcomes

-Engaging with partners agencies


You will need:

-SVQ 2 or the equivalent in Health & social care / services or the willingness to work towards this.

-Ability to work within the rota system including sleepover and waking night shift.

-Ability to engage with children and young people.

-A knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by children and young people.
