Events Assistant
Location: Kensington
Contract: 3 Months (Possibility of Extension)
Working Hours
- Hours per week: Approximately 20 hours
- Working days: Monday to Sunday (dependent on event schedule)
- Shift times: Events generally take place between 17:00 and 23:55
- Candidates must be available to arrive by 17:00 and remain on duty until the event has concluded
Please note: This role is event dependent. Candidates will not be required to work every evening. On average, the venue hosts 3-4 events per week, typically Monday to Saturday. Events may conclude anytime between 21:30 and 00:30. A rota will be issued in advance, allowing candidates to sign up for available shifts.
Role Overview
Our client is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Events Assistants to support the delivery of commercial hire events and public programmes. The role involves working closely with catering partners and internal teams to ensure events are delivered to a high professional standard while maintaining the safety, security, and presentation of the museum.
This position is ideal for individuals with experience in events, hospitality, or customer-facing roles who are flexible and available to work evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Event Delivery
- Support the successful delivery of commercial and public events, ensuring a smooth and professional guest experience
- Assist with event set-up, guest arrival, and post-event breakdown
- Work collaboratively with catering teams to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Act as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for event clients and guests
- Ensure public and event spaces are presented to a high standard and remain safe throughout events
Public and Special Events
- Assist with evening events such as receptions, lectures, concerts, film screenings, and exhibition openings
- Support weekend learning and engagement activities, including workshops and family events
- Assist with special fundraising and private events as required
Health, Safety, and Visitor Experience
- Support the safety and security of the museum, its collections, and visitors during events
- Monitor visitor flow and report any issues or incidents promptly
- Assist with emergency procedures when required and undertake relevant training
General Duties
- Provide excellent customer service at all times
- Support income-generating activities where required
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Events and Catering Manager or Duty Manager
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience working in events, hospitality, or a customer-facing environment
- Ability to work evenings and weekends on a flexible basis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Understanding of health and safety in a public-facing environment
- Ability to use initiative and resolve issues calmly and professionally
- Basic to intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365
Desirable
- Experience working in a museum, heritage, or cultural venue
- Experience working with external caterers or event suppliers
