Job Summary

The successful applicant will join the Quality Assurance department.

Our Quality Assurance department ensure with confidence that our customers' requirements are being met during the manufacturing, assembly, integration and test phases of the Spacecraft.

Vigilance and dedication in our efforts allows us to develop customized solutions, proactively eliminate problems, improve operational performance, maintain costs low, and keep our people safe and our customer satisfied in our unique and highly specialized operations and product.

You will report directly to:

  • The Head of Quality Assurance Stevenage

Functions reporting to this position:

  • There are no functions reporting to this position but there could be a supervision activity or training of less experienced and coordination of Quality activities.

Job Profile

The QA is fully empowered to manage all aspects of quality within the Spacecraft Production work area. The activity includes:

  • Perform critical inspection activities and witness critical operations.
  • Lead and influence prevention and quality mind set in the local work areas.
  • Drive the efficient management of non-conformance and Cost of Non quality reduction.
  • Collate build reconciliations and open points (e.g. open work orders).
  • Perform Quality surveillance in the local work areas to ensure product quality meets the stated requirements.
  • Ensure open actions from critical inspections are managed and tracked during all production phases.

Skills/Experience Required

You should have/ demonstrate the following skills:

  • Academic degree in Engineering with at least 3 years Production, Quality or Engineering experience within the Aerospace or Military industry.
  • Good understanding of Quality Assurance and product assurance activities.
  • Communication skills to motivate others to improve the quality of their work as well as to explain your findings clearly.
  • Teamwork and leadership attributes with excellent written and oral communication and persuasion skills.
  • Solid hardware inspection background.
  • Willingness to work on shift, on-call or off-site when required.

Education & Training

Engineering degree or equivalent experience in engineering/aerospace environment

Working Pattern

Monday to Friday days - expectation of working extra hours mid-week & weekends

Travel

Occasional travel to other UK sites

Extension

Probable extension after initial contract duration

This role will be working on site full time - free parking is provided for this role in a local car park.
