Pay Rate: up to £15.00 per hour PAYE
Overview of the Security Vetting Support Officer role and the department you will be assigned to:
You will be part of a dynamic and vibrant environment of security vetting. This is a critical business area that supports the management of security-vetted personnel to work within the organisation. You and the team will be the first layer of security in ensuring any personnel risks are identified and managed. In addition you will be required to support the Personnel Security Manager in the successful implementation of the Vetting Strategy.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- You will be part of a highly motivated and progressive security team.
- You will be part of a wider support mechanism that enables us to conduct our business.
- Your role will principally look to complete and record accurately all right to work and identity checks to ensure potential candidates have the necessary documentation and rights in place to work in the UK.
- Inputting in a timely and accurately manner, data into a 3rd party provider portal to minimise delays in completion of clearances.
- You will support HR, Procurement and Recruitment in obtaining BPSS security clearances for new employees.
- You will support the team in achieving its objectives and reducing risk to the organisation.
- You will be the point of contact for vetting issues/problems.
- You will liaise with UKSV and other external agencies when appropriate.
- You will also monitor external IT platform to obtain and update security clearances.
The successful Security Vetting Support Officer will have the following skills and experience to carry out the duties assigned to the role:
Essential:

- Able to work under pressure and prioritise work as required.

- Able to act in the strictest of confidence with personal sensitive data - integrity is paramount.
- Must be able to obtain national security vetting and BPSS.
- Ability to challenge, negotiate and problem solve when required.
- Willingness to learn new standards and processes to apply best practice security.
Desirable:
- Experience of HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes.
- Experience and knowledge of MOD and defence industry.
- Relevant vetting qualification.
- Awareness and knowledge of recruitment and on-boarding processes for defence industry.
- Personnel Security awareness for the ongoing aftercare of security cleared staff.
- Presentational experience for the delivery of training.
The role is based in Stevenage which offers excellent transport links, is in close proximity to London Stansstead Airport and is commutable from Hitchen, Letchworth Garden City, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Hoddesdon and Harlow.
Due to the nature of the work our client is involved with, suitable candidates will already be SC cleared or eligible to gain this level of clearance.
