Overview of role
Working within a multi-functional team to deliver on time and to cost, this role involves the generation of design for a number of interrelated systems, factoring in safety, security and manufacturing concerns to deliver a set of secure products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop System and Product design artefacts across the software development lifecycle.
- Utilise Model Based Systems Engineering to create a robust model of the system being developed
- Collaborate with the system, hardware and software architects to ensure consistency, design for modularity and re-use, and technical excellence
- Work with the engineering team to derive and capture requirements into SMART system and sub-system requirements
- Understand and manage interdependencies between multiple product development lifecycles
- Analyse where requirements, both functional and non-functional, are common across multiple products to identify cost saving opportunities
- Provide technical support and guidance to Junior Engineers
Skills and Experience
- Experience of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience across the full Systems Engineering lifecycle
- An organised individual with a natural curiosity to seek out and contrast all possible solutions
- Ability to apply learned skills and expertise to improve and refine processes
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining effective communications within and without the team
- Excellent problem solver, assessing the problem to generate multiple solutions and performing trade-off to select the best course of action
- Desirable: Working knowledge of DOORS requirements management tool
- Desirable: Working knowledge of Enterprise Architect (EA) modelling tool
