The council is investing in Children's Services and have created these additional social work posts to ensure caseloads remain at a comfortable level so you can deliver some inspirational practice and make a real difference to children, young people and families.
At Bedford Borough Council, Social Workers are encouraged to work creatively with children to ensure the best possible service and support is provided to the child. There is a very strong workforce development plan that includes training for all social workers in systemic social work practice. Ofsted have recognised that Bedford Borough Council has a very stable and well-motivated workforce, but most importantly so do children, young people and families.

As a Social Worker you will build effective relationships with children, young people and their families/carers to help elicit their needs and promote participation in decision making. You will need to undertake assessments, as well as plan, implement and review a range of interventions for children, young people and families/carers. You will also maintain accurate, up to date records safely and confidentially in accordance with Bedford Council's policies and procedures.
As a Social Worker at Bedford Borough Council, you will need:
A degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
Successful completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) or the Children's Workforce Development Council's Newly Qualified Social Worker programme
Experience relevant to the team you're applying for
Registration with Social Work England
A desire to make a difference
