The role
Are you passionate about inclusion and equality? Action for Children emotional wellbeing and inclusion project in conjunction with Young Start Community Fund & The Gannochy Trust creates an opportunity to engage with multi- cultural young people from diverse communities in Edinburgh, promoting social inclusion, learning of different cultures and historical events and engagement with sports, arts and music. The project offers a trusting support network that will be a safe place to discuss challenges where staff can enable young people to develop new skills and community connections. As a young persons practitioner you will be involved in engaging with young people individually and in groups developing agreed service plans working towards agreed outcomes.
You will have lived in experiences of diverse communities and will have exemplary multi-cultural diversity awarenes
You will make a difference by:
-Delivering support to build emotional wellbeing and inclusion through 1-1 and group sessions.
-Building self-esteem and confidence.
-Promoting positive identity aspects.
-Taking a co-production approach to the development of supports and interventions.
-Facilitating 1-1 support sessions working with vulnerable young people from multi-cultural background.
You will need:
-HNC Social Care or SVQ children and young people or other relevant qualification and or significant experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds.
-Experience of working with young people from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds building relationships and offering support.
-The ability to work within a multi-agency social care, early years or health environment and applying safeguarding procedures.
-Experience of working with individuals who have experienced racial discrimation and or personal lived experience will be welcomed.
-Reporting both verbally and in writing on the delivery of services to wide client group.
-Proven ability to use Microsoft packages.
