Practitioner and Parenting Practitioner - CYP IAPT Training Post

Contract - Full Time FTC - Fixed-Term Contract Jan 2020 until December 2020

We are looking for 2 practitioners, 1 will cover 0-5years and the other role will be a Family practitioner that will cover 5-8years old.

This is a training role within the Children and Young People' Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) at Exeter University. Both the parenting and 0-5 practitioner posts are for both graduate or post graduates and different pathways for this post.

The post-holder will work within an area in Devon (South, North, Exeter or Mid & East) as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality; outcome-informed, focused, evidence-based interventions for children under 8 years old and their parents or carers. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively within the wider targeted early help Children's Centre service.

The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.

Your employment terms and conditions with Action for Children will remain the same throughout the duration of this contract. The aim is that these roles will be established across the Devon

What you'll need:

  • You will need to be a car driver as there will travel between sites where children and young people maybe present (Schools, NHS premises, homes etc)
  • Be able to evidence the
  • Psychology or health/Social Care/Youth related undergraduate degree is desirable but not essential
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills and use of internet mediated communication
  • The ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Be able to develop good professional relationships with colleagues inside and beyond child and adolescent mental health services
  • Understanding of systems and contexts in which children and young people are likely to live
  • Able to attend the formal training as required and to complete academic components of the course
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the role of the family in supporting children and young people's emotional well-being
