The role
Norfolk's Early Childhood and Family Service provide targeted support to families with children aged 0-5 years. The service offers a range of early childhood services for parents, prospective parents and young children to support in areas including bonding, speech and language development, parenting challenges, mental well-being and healthy relationships
Broadland covers a large geographical area with a mix of rural and urban including Acle, Thorpe/Dussindale and up to Aylsham and Reepham. This post will be based at Drayton but required to work across Broadland and North Norfolk
As a Family Support Practitioner your role is to provide a welcoming, supportive and safe service for children and to learn and develop.
You will make a difference by:
- Providing direct family support at home, within one of our ECFS bases or via video calls.
- Organising and running 1:1 and group-based parenting programmes using evidence-based approaches (e.g. Solihull, Circle of Security, Freedom).
- Attending and participating at relevant multi-agency meetings and providing a lead role when required.
- Using a strengths-based approach to working with families.
- Taking an outcome focussed approach for children and families.
You will need:
- Level 3 or above qualification in social care, health, education or early years.
- Good IT skills and ability to record concise, accurate case notes.
- Ability to understand and reflect on daily practice.
- Experience of delivering one to one or group support to children and families.
- Ability to build safe and effective working relationships with vulnerable young children and adults.
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of premises across the county (the role will be required to work across more than one district at times).
