The Gael Og Intensive Support Service is part of Action for Children and is based at Rail House, Inverness. The service works with Parents and Young People (from 11 - 18 years of age) through 1:1 work, family work, parenting work and group work. The main aims of the service are to Prevent Placement Breakdown; either at home or in residential care and to facilitate transitions back to the Young Persons locality.
The Role
The team leader will support and supervise a team of young people practitioners to prevent placement breakdown by working in partnership with agencies to achieve positive outcomes, and offering therapeutic support to young people and their families, in line with the needs assessment. You will also be supporting the the Children's Service Manager in the roll out of ISS to other areas in Highland.
You will make a difference by:
-Facilitating successful transitions for Young People returning to their locality through effective partnership working, understanding around levels of need and offering structured, therapeutic support.
-Assessing adolescent and parental needs and to promote the young person's health and wellbeing by providing appropriate activities and experiences; using accredited models.
-Preparing written reports to contribute to the wider Childs Plan, and to present these details at multi-agency meetings; representing the organisation and supporting the family.
-Working closely and professionally with partner agencies to deliver services that offer the most appropriate and beneficial support to Children, Young People and their Families, contributing to more successful outcomes.
You will need:
-A degree level qualification relevant to the services within the remit of the post (eg health, social care, early years, education) or equivalent experience with a level 4 qualification relevant to the service.
-Management qualification or substantial experience of line managing staff and/or a specific project/programme.
-Significant post qualification experience of working with children, young people and or families in a multi agency environment and achieving positive outcomes through intervention.
-Advanced experience of chairing, supporting and contributing to service planning meetings.
-Competent in the use of Microsoft outlook packages i.e. word, email etc.
